Consumers Will Get Better Credit Cards Soon
January 27th 2012 -
There have long been efforts by credit card companies to try and create a more secure piece of plastic for a person’s wallet and there might soon be some additional options for people using plastic to pay for things. A recently released statement from one development company suggests that they will be putting what is essentially a computer into the face of a credit card so that they can employ different types of card usage within the same card. For example, the company who invented the technology recently teamed up with Citibank in order to offer a card where the user could choose to employ accrued rewards points for a purchase or simply use it as a regular credit card by toggling a button on the card.
This has led to the development of credit cards that will likely see benefit from being used as an optional credit card or as connected to a bank account so that the user can employ just one piece of plastic that can be used for multiple different types of purchases. There’s an actual button on the card that can be pressed to use the account in a certain way. This means that less space is taken up within the wallet. The only downside to this card is that if a person accidentally loses that single card, a thief would have more access to many accounts than would otherwise be the case.
One interesting development might end up being the idea that entering a code on the card itself will allow a person to check out their balance on a particular account.
